Our horticulture programs are taught by the industry, for the industry. Our highly experienced trainers will help you kick start your career in one of the fastest growing industries in Australia. You will study a range of topics such as how to improve plant growth, yields, quality, nutritional value and resistance to insects, diseases, and environmental stresses. As a Horticulturist, you will use your knowledge and skills gained at Wakefield to grow plants for human food and non-food uses and for personal or social needs.

The hospitality industry is quite broad. It includes jobs working in hotels, restaurants, casinos, theme parks, cruise lines, and other facilities that are frequented by customers for their leisure and recreational needs.
Many jobs in the hospitality industry involve dealing with customers face-to-face in a variety of ways. But there are also behind-the-scenes jobs that include positions in sales, marketing, and accounting. From Front-Office roles to Event Management, Marketing Head to General Manager, a career in hospitality can be a very rewarding journey indeed.
For most people, a career in Horticulture involves maintenance of gardens and the growing of plants. While it is true, it doesn't give a complete picture of how far you can go in this industry. A Grower for example, is someone who specialises in plant breeding and horticultural science. Growers monitor soil health, plant health and growing conditions. They grow plants for businesses and clients. Along with this there are several paths such as Garden Associate, Grounds Keeper, Harvestor, Nursery Worker and more.
Whichever role you choose, careers in horticulture have the potential to require a certain level of imagination and creativity. If you've got what it takes, you can really grow into this career!
Just like the larger hospitality industry, Commercial cookery is also a very wide field with several options and pathways. There are three main areas that you can choose to specialise in - Patisserie, Cookery, Hospitality management. Depending on your specialisation and preference, you can choose a career in Restaurants, Pubs and bars, Cafes, Hotels or Catering Businesses. If you choose to work in a hotel, then starting as a Commis Chef you can work all the way to becoming Executive Chef.
